What is “Zi Wei Dou Shu?” 紫微斗數

Chapter 1 “Shi Ba Fei Xing” 十八飞星
A little about the “Zi Wei Dou Shu” background. Most will agree that it is founded in the era of sung dynasty in China by the founder “Chen Xi Yi” 陈希夷 or more commonly known as “Lao Tzu” (elderly). The specialties of “Zi Wei Dou Shu” is that it utilize the stars in the skies to calculate the human well being, longevity, sickness, poor or rich. It has different applications and methods from the more commonly known system of destiny calculation “Zi Peng Ba Zi” 子平八字 system.  “Zi Wei Dou Shu” is based on the lunar calendar as a balance. It uses the lunar 1st month and it doesn’t observe the solar calendar monthly segregation “Jie Qi” . The “Zi Peng Ba Zi” is based on the solar calendar as a balance where the changes of each month will follow the “Jie Qi” cycle in the solar calendar.
It is a common question among friends and students to compare the accuracy between this two major destiny calculation system “Zi Wei Dou Shu” and “Zi Peng Ba Zi”. With enough practice and experience you will find that both systems have its quality and specialty. As long as the practitioner or master has a good spirit for research, it will bring that knowledge to be thoroughly researched to enhanced the calculation to be very close to reality.
“In 1993, during a Taiwan international “I-Ching” conference, there was a Korean master in face reading who was sitting beside me which I was not aware of his face reading skills. As an unexpected courtesy for giving up my seat to his wife he did a live face reading telling me about my early life in very detail and accurate description without a single error. He was even able to name the number of children I have, my marriage condition and my business situation. He never said anything unnecessary but his accuracy was beyond words can describe. His professionalism in his research is something we ought to highly respect and learn” said Madam Yap. Indeed it is very rare and difficult in the present time to find such an accurate and fascinating face reading masters.
“Zi Wei Dou Shu” is very accurate in determining your success and failure of life. But there are many stars in the system which sometimes can render the analysis and judgment to have variance and complicated to some practitioner. That is the reason why many masters become hesitant and unsure in the process of reading. The Zi Wei Dou Shu system is very sensitive to the transformation of “Ke, Quan, Lu祿, Ji”. If you can thoroughly master these you will become accurate.
There are a few popular methods and schools that existed from the old days. In the year 1985 one of the “Zi Wei Dou Shu” formula in Taiwan belonging to a master who published an advertisement in the newspaper to openly sell 8 volumes of books. The first volume, talks about the 18 flying secret formula “Si Ba Fei Mi” 十八飞秘. The second volume, talks about the four palace transformation “Si Hua Fei Gong” 四化飞宫. The third volume is the four transformation changes “Si Hua Bian Yi” 四化变易. The fourth volume is about Zi Wei Dou Shu Feng Shui “Kan Yu Fei Yun Zi Wei Dou Shu” 堪兴飞运紫微大法. The fifth volume is the advance level Zi Wei Dou Shu formula “San Cheng Tui Ming Xing Fa Yu Zi Wei Da Fa” 上乘推命心法与紫微大法.The sixth volume is the early heaven four transformations flying star methods “Xian Tian Si Hua Fei Xing Qi Bu” 先天四化飞星祺谱.The seven volume is the water mirror spirit methods “Shui Jing Shen Shu” 水镜神数. The eight volume is the Zi Wei Dou Shu mirror mastery series “Zi Wei Jing Zong” 紫微镜宗.
The beginnings of these 6 volumes are classified as human series “Ren Ji” 人集. The 7th and 8th volumes are classified as earth “Di Ji” 地集and heaven “Tian Zi” 天集 series.  In a simple summarized extraction of the contents of this 6th volume book. It states that this system has 12 types of bad star “Ji” . They are called “Ni Shui Ji”逆水忌, “Fan Gong Ji” 反弓忌, “Ru Ku Ji” 入库忌, “Jue Ming Ji” 绝命忌and etc…. This system uses the year of birth “Ji” sitting in the original chart travel, marriage or happiness palace. And if the opposite palace life, career or wealth palace have a bad transformation star “Hua Ji”化忌 clashes direct with the birth year star it will be like a huge water dam. It will cause the opposite palace “Ji” to bounce back. The star that is being bounced back is called “Ni Shui Ji”. It states that if a person with this kind of chart will become wealthy. However the birth year “Ji” cannot have another “Ji” transforming out, if not it will break the dam. It says that if it cannot be prevented it will be drained, that is why “Ni Shui Ji” in the structure is better than “Hua Lu” and “Hua Quan”.
“All this 8 volumes was sold for only 15000 Taiwan dollars. He managed to sell to about a 100 fans. This guy has good business sense and was able to make a good profit out of it. It was really a profitable project back then. In 1994 a friend from Ipoh had given these 8 volumes as a present to me. After much research and validation with many charts, I found it not suitable for me”, said Madam Yap
During the olden days, the masters and classics were seldom passed down in a complete and accurate manner. As everyone comes from different schools and clans so all practitioner will have different behaviors and preferences during practices. So that is why it always brings about many complications and disputes. Therefore huge research on real life charts and true happenings validation is needed as most masters have their own opinion on destiny reading and none will ever admit even if they are inaccurate. It is very important for the new generation of researchers of to further create a very practical and accurate method that can enhance the “Zi Wei Dou Shu” system. “Accuracy does not come from boasting but is determined by more research and honest validation without any self deception”. The aim of any researcher aside from fulfilling their interest should create a better understanding for the future generations. By achieving this they can help the society by giving life solution using the “Zi Wei Dou Shu” system. Of course we are not god and we can’t foresee epidemics and Mother Nature’s cry. But it is of high hopes that the practitioner can find better solutions during a crisis so that they can help others to gain confidence and bravery to face reality.
